Production Transparency

A vegetable producer wanted to measure employee performance in production and field operations objectively while increasing motivation. The goal was to implement a system that tracks individually processed products in real time and makes the results visible to everyone.

We implemented a solution that records output quantities per production line and employee and displays the data live on screens in the production hall. This direct visualization creates transparency and encourages healthy competition among employees. Since the existing machine control systems were outdated and did not provide an OPC UA interface, we captured signals from sensors and motors in parallel, processed them through an additional PLC and transmitted the data to the cloud via an edge device. Performance data is stored for several years and remains available for analysis and workload estimation.

This solution enabled the company to measure employee performance transparently and increase motivation through real-time feedback. Long-term data storage also makes it possible to plan production efforts more accurately and identify trends at an early stage.

The project demonstrates how production transparency can be implemented cost-effectively even with older machine installations.
